Peter J M Smith

Chairman

Peter has been on the Board since September 1997, taking up the position of Chairman following our Annual General Meeting in June 2009. Until his recent retirement Peter, who is a qualified solicitor, headed up the international legal department of the Salvation Army, where he is also a Minister of Religion. Peter has held a number of influential Non-executive Directorships within the charity sector.

Alan Soulsby

Deputy Chairman

Alan, a life long member of the Society, is a specialist property solicitor employed by the Land Registry. He has served on the Board since July 2002 and was last re-elected in 2012. Alan is married with two grown up children.

Lindsey Marriott

Non-executive Director

Following a successful career in marketing with the International Air Transport Association, Lindsey is currently developing her business teaching French to pre-school children. Lindsey, who was last re-elected to the Board in 2012, has 3 young children.

Camilla Wellman

Non-executive Director

After a complete change of career Camilla is currently teaching history in a Midlands Secondary School. Camilla’s early career in internal auditing led to a position as Finance Manager of Reliance Bank. Camilla was last re-elected to the Board in 2011.

Peter Wyper

Non-executive Director

Peter is a financial adviser based in Biggar, Lanarkshire. He brings a wealth of financial and investment experience to the Board and since being appointed in July 2008 has helped the Society ensure it meets the needs of the financial advisers who recommend our products. Peter was last re-elected in 2011.

Ian Passey

Senior Non-executive Director

After a long career in the Building Society and Friendly Society sectors of financial services, Ian retired as Chief Executive of Dentist Provident in 2008. He joined the Board in July 2008 to share his expertise. Ian has a number of other Non-executive Directorships within the mutual insurance sector and was last re-elected to the Board in June 2011.

Steven Kelly

Non-executive Director

Steven is a qualified actuary with experience in Life and With-profits business, who recently retired from Co-operative Insurance.  He continues to take an interest in actuarial education and acts as an examiner for the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.

Steve joined the Board in 2010 and was last re-elected in 2011. 

Oliver Pike

Society Secretary

Oliver is a Chartered Accountant and joined the Society in June 2004 as Finance and Risk Manager.

On his subsequent appointment as Company Secretary he was appointed to the Board in March 2006 and last re-elected in 2011.

Oliver, a keen squash player, has 3 grown up children.

Peter Green

Chief Executive

Peter was appointed as Chief Executive of the Society in October 2006. Prior to his appointment Peter was Chief Executive of a mutual health insurance company specialising in health care cash plans. Peter, who has a MBA, was last re-elected to the Board in 2010.

He is married with two children.
