This year we’re supporting our local community grocery store, Bolton and Bury Community Grocery, a fantastic organisation that supports people in the community who are struggling to feed their families. So far we have raised over £2,000 through the Society’s charitable fund and team events.

The charitable fund dates back to our origins when we only allowed people to become members of the Society when they could show that they practised a healthy lifestyle. Indeed in the early days of the Society we only accepted applications from people who didn’t drink alcohol. We now welcome everyone as a member whilst still celebrating our heritage by supporting charitable initiatives that encourage healthy lifestyles and support the most vulnerable. 

Unlike food banks you don’t have to have a referral, the store, which is based at The Mill on the Bolton Bury border, is open to everyone. At just £4 a shop it’s making a huge difference to the local community.
