Sam, who lives in the Rossendale Valley, joined Healthy Investment as an apprentice back in 2011.
Fresh from college Sam worked in the administration and membership teams before taking up his current role as Business Development Executive with responsibility for Financial Advisers.
Sam explained, ‘over the years I’ve built up a good understanding of all our products, the way that they work and the type of investors they are most suitable for.’
In his current role, Sam is responsible for explaining the benefits of Healthy Investment’s products to professional financial advisers so that they are able to recommend them to their clients as investments that are suitable to meet their individual needs.
‘As I’ve had a lot of experience of talking to our members it was easy to transfer these skills to financial advisers and whilst the focus of my role is on advisers and I am still available to talk to members. Because of my experience, I often deal with the more complex enquiries from members.’
‘I’m becoming something of an expert on how investment bonds can be written in trusts to help with inheritance tax planning.’
When Sam’s not working he’s a regular at the gym and having recently bought his first home is developing his DIY skills.
Despite his professional appearance and attitude to work Sam also has a fondness for tattoos and, according to his boss, given that he thinks they were drawn by a child, is a likely future candidate for the popular TV programme Tattoo Fixers.
Sam is also studying for his financial services exams and is currently working towards the Chartered Insurance Institutes Diploma.
‘The exams in financial services regulation and ethics and investments have really helped me in my role. They have given me the confidence to be able to speak to members and advisers with a wider knowledge of financial services. Ultimately I want to be as qualified as the advisers I work with.’
‘The best thing about my role is being able to help advisers and members understand their investments.’
