It sometimes feels that Jerrol’s been with the Society man and boy.

Jerrol started his career at Healthy Investment as an apprentice after completing an IT course at the local college.  Nearly 9 years later he’s still here and playing a pivotal role in the Society’s future.

Peter Green, Chief Executive of the Society explained, ‘Jerrol came to us as a rather fresh faced 19 year old and is testament to the benefits of using apprenticeships as part of the recruitment process. We’ve seen, over the years, Jerrol develop his knowledge and expertise of financial services and then use the skills he’s learnt to further his career within the Society.’

Jerrol’s current role as a Business Development Executive is focused on providing financial advisers with the information and tools they need to be able to recommend the Society’s products to their clients. Jerrol explained ‘because I’ve worked across all departments within the Society I have a wide range of experience that I can use to ensure financial advisers and our members get the service they need. I’m available to financial advisers and to their client’s to ensure that everyone is involved in the new business, valuation and encashment process.’

Whilst 9 years might not seem a long time, Jerrol has seen a lot of changes in financial services during his career. When he started at Healthy Investment the annual ISA allowance was just £7,000, the FCA and PRA didn’t exist and key legislation like the Retail Distribution Review, Insurance Distribution Directive and Solvency II were just a twinkle in European legislators’ eyes.

Jerrol added ‘At Healthy Investment it’s mandatory that all staff hold the Chartered Insurance Institute’s CF1 qualification in financial services regulation and ethics, however the Society has supported me in working towards my financial services diploma. It’s important as I work with financial advisers that I understand the training they have undertaken. ’

When Jerrol’s not working he’s a keen footballer and enjoys both 5 and 11 aside matches. Following the demise of the local team Bury FC he’s currently looking for a new team to support. ‘It was very sad to see a local team that was very much at the heart of the community collapse, it’s had a big impact on the town and local businesses.’
